Things They Said: Blogs
{Record Reviews | Other Press | Blogs}

We know: lots of people have blogs and getting mentions in them may not seem like a big deal. But we really want to acknowledge the nice things being said about us. If you've said some things yourself, let us know.

Updates, Blog and Craptalk
How we found our way to Finland, I don't know, but we did, and we're mentioned:

...there are also lots of great pop records out and available. Like...the debut album by The Positions. You can listen their whole album Bliss! on their website. It's really great indie pop bliss with lovely female vocals. There's also plenty of horns. I know I'm going to buy it.

It won't make much sense if you don't speak Portuguese, but I guess you'll have to take our word for it that this Brazilian pop site likes us.

2004 Year-End Awards {full post}
Here's a Hint doesn't exactly mince words when it comes to DC bands, so we're feeling downright elated over not only getting the "Lookout for 2005" award, but the harshest thing said was that we're possibly the "nerdiest band in DC". Possibly?!

Lookout for 2005 - The Positions - Possible winners of the 2005 "Nerdiest Band in DC" award, I find their sound refreshing and enjoyable and hope they can play some decent shows in 2005.

DC-9 Show With The Positions {full post}
From the Float Not Swim blog:

The Positions are really great and gave the night a kind of cool 60s-ish sock-hop feel.  I couldn't stop my toes from tapping, and any band with a trombone usually has my vote.  The lead vocalist, Nicole Stoops, has a wonderful voice, not wispy and ethereal, but stronger like an American Delgados.  The band members looked like they were having fun, kidding with each other on stage, and it showed in their strong performance. {more}

The Positions I Like {full post}
Sarah D's Asymptomy blog, where she said some very nice things about us. Thanks, Sarah! And sorry you missed Ladybug Transistor. None of us were thrilled about how late things went, but they were worth it.

Especially after seeing a surprisingly fantastic local band - The Positions!!!  They were actually happy and seemed to be enjoying each other's company and - hey! - the fact that they're in a band together!  They created a really great vibe and Nicole Stoops's voice was perfect for the classic pop sound provided by the rest of the cast.  The addition of Chris Guryan's trombone topped it all off nicely.
